Death comes often, but seeing your paper body fall apart soon seems like no more than a gentle indicator that you’re doing it wrong.It’s a clever concept, well implemented then – even if it’s not quite as original as it would probably like to pretend (Taito’s Cameltry/On The Ball from 1989 works in a very similar manner).

Once you get the hang of this the game quickly starts throwing in extra problems, such as boulders which become dislodged once you start turning floors into ceilings.There are few real enemies, but a menagerie of animals – from monkeys to a giant hamster – ensures you do not adventure alone. A number of alternative systems are also available, including ones where you don’t have to use motion controls at all.At first you move the world simply to navigate through the maze-like levels, turning dead ends into platforms and deadly chasms into gentle slopes. The default control system has you holding the remote horizontally and using the D-pad to move.

The PC version only worked in 90 degree blocks but the finer control allowed here feels a lot more natural and less restrictive. Like any good platformer the idea is simply to get to the end of the level, but this quickly becomes impossible until you start using the game’s main gimmick: the ability to rotate the game world around you.This is where the Wii comes in handy because to rotate the game world you simply turn the remote. Its relative fame and indie credentials seem like a perfect fit for Xbox Live Arcade or the PlayStation Network, but the simple visuals and easy adaptability for motion controls actually work better on the Wii.At first glance the game seems to be a standard 2D platformer, albeit with an unusual art style where everything seems to be made up of ripped up pieces of paper and photos of rocks and other natural textures.

Maybe it’s because the student games are usually never meant to be stretched out into a full idea, but we never enjoyed Line Rider, Rooms: The Main Building, The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai, Damnation or any of the other recent examples.And Yet it Moves won its first award as a PC game in 2007 and you can still download the subsequently updated version from the official website for €8.99 (£7). As much as we try to support indie games in general, the games awards committees of the world have a pretty ropey track record.
